Reader's
letter: The
walking stick that belonged to the philosopher
Nietzsche
For more

our gallery
and scroll down the
thumbnails. | DAVID IRVING reports: "Hitler's secretaries
confirmed to me that he used the walking stick
which had once belonged to philosopher Friedrich
Nietzsche. "It may be the stick on offer here. It is
certainly identifiable as his in many photographs,
like Walter Frentz's famous photo of Hitler
walking with Heinrich Himmler down a path near the
Berghof (top left). The stick was rescued from the
Berghof ruins after the RAF bombing raid on April
1945 - it has a three-inch scorch mark - by
Wilhelm Mitlstrasser, the house-manager. He
is seen in photographs with British collector John
H. in the image below on the occasion in December
1993 when John H. purchased the stick. The stick
has two or three identifying blemishes which can be
seen in the comparison photo at bottom, and is
offered for sale by the owner's widow with
documents. (authenticity of this
item is guaranteed) |
