Pieter\nWagenerrecalls,\n, the 1977 David Frost\nprogramme in which Mr Irving worsted Frost; exactly\nthirty years ago
David\nFrost, Stupefied
THANK you for allowing us access to your books.\nThere is one correction to your From\nGuernica to Vietnam. In Guernica General\nSmuts is mentioned on pages 3, 5 and 10.\nHowever, in the index he is referred to as John\nSmuts. He is, of course, Jan Smuts, as referred to\non page 3.
The most spectacular of your many media\nconfrontations was on the David Frost show,\nsometime in the 1970’s. At the end of the show you\nrevealed that you had actually brought Hitler’s\nadjudant to the show, who then stood up and\nconfirmed that, to the best of his knowledge,\nHitler had never given instructions for the\ndestruction of Jews.
I’ll never forget the look of stupefaction on\nFrost’s face. PLEASE, can we\nget a copy of this unforgettable show? I tell so\nmany people about it, and it would be marvelous to\nshow it to them.
Hope to see you again in South Africa.

DAVID\nIRVING vs. DAVID FROST
” QUITE\nWHY Golden Boy Frost, having lost one\nbout on points some years ago against\n’Battler Irving’ should have sought a\nre-match, I do not know… Anyway,\ntelevision’s ageing boy wonder looked\nshockingly out of condition when he\nappeared in the ring, and Battler was\nclearly fighting fit. The first round\nwas Battler’s since he dodged Frosty’s\nleads and replied with a flurry of\npunches which certainly had him hanging\nonto the ropes…
Then Frosty called\ntime — at least it saved him having to\nthrow in the towel.”
David Irving\ncomments:
GLAD you remember that\nshow; it was June 9, 1977. I am just writing this\nday about it in my memoirs! The adjutant was\nRichard Schulze-Kossens, who had been an SS\ncolonel and was Hitler’s personal adjutant\n1941-1944
Said the Daily\nMail: “If you saw author David Irving defending\nhimself and his theory on the Frost Programme this\nweek, you would have witnessed that he has the\nnerve and the obsession to make such a statement\n[that there is no proof Hitler even knew of\nthe Holocaust].\nHe fought his case with fanatical courage, taking\non David Frost, rival anti-Hitler historians and a\nhighly partisan audience.”
