I ENJOYED a hearty belly laugh at the
Nelson/Wellington double name-change bit, which reminded me to send you this tidbit from the November 2001 issue of Sports
Afield hunting/fishing journal, p. 31 (see also www.sportsafield.com):

“The
American Fisheries Society officially renamed the
Jewfish the ‘Goliath grouper’ and the squawfish the
‘pike minnow’ because ‘names shall not violate the
tenets of good taste,’ according to an AFS
publication. With political correctness all the rage,
can new names for sperm whales and sucker be far
behind.”
