Why should I support you?

9, 2001 there was posted on this website a letter from one
Christoph
S, who stated that he believed in the right of critical thinkers to debate preconceived notions, and generally in intellectual freedom.
He was also, he said, inclined to sympathise with my position in the Lipstadt trial, and “other controversies.”

He asked however whether I had ever “denied the Holocaust”?
— Remarkably, the same Mr S. then complained when this letter and my reply were posted on this website, and went so far as to use the DCM Act in the United States to pressure the server, to procure its removal, arguing that it was his
“copyright”. My original reply is however not his copyright, and follows below:-]

Good questions. In Court very early on in this trial I defined the Holocaust as “The tragedy inflicted on the millions of
European Jews by the Nazis and their collaborators during the Third Reich.” That is a pretty broad definition, and I don’t deny it. In particular I have repeatedly read out to even the most right-wing audiences the vivid eye witness descriptions of the shootings of thousands of Jews by units at Riga in November 1941. — Horrifying descriptions.

And I told those listeners that this was proof that these things did happen. But I demand the right to analyze aspects of the Holocaust, like whether certain buildings at Auschwitz and Birkenau were indeed “factories of death” in which half a million Jews were gassed and cremated.
Those facts I disbelieve, and the judge also had a hard time extracting evidence on them from the (highly paid: £109,000 for one report!!) experts hired by the defence lawyers.
