UPON READING the properly qualified forensic reports appended to the Leuchter Report, in 1988, which showed no significant trace of cyanide residue in buildings formerly identified as the homicidal gas chamnbers at
Auschwitz, Mr Irving decided to remove the word “gas chamber” from the 1991 edition of his book Hitler’s War. No such word figured in the works of Churchill, de Gaulle,
Eisenhower and other historians of WW2.
