“Skunky” Evans
Richard J (“Skunky”) Evans, Regius Professor of
History at Cambridge University.
I knew “Skunky” Evans at
School
I SHALL be ordering a signed copy of “Banged Up” from Focal
Point. And apart from my current collection of your signed books, hope to receive many more in the future. Sadly, I haven’t seen Richard J. Evans (right) since he was a year below me at Forest School in the mid-sixties.
We were amazed that he became an Historian; I believe we had him marked out as a Solicitor
[attorney]. His recent photographs show him looking distinctly unwell. Is he prescribed steroids? A friend of mine read his recent book and described it as turgid, repetitive and a waste of time. I haven’t read it yet, so couldn’t possibly comment.
May I make one humble request? We need you here now, as a doughty fighter for individual and academic freedom rather than in the USA. Recent events, where a front bench MP can have his
Parliamentary office raided by anti-terrorist police has made us all rather frightened of our future.
