But listen to Amcor’s executives talk about those nice folks next door David Irving comments: AUSTRALIAN politicians from all parties line up to support their country’s billionaire Richard Pratt , despite his admission of illegal price fixing, and his subsequent liability for millions of dollars in fines.
These are the same politicians who label me allegedly having a “bad character” in order to prevent me getting a visa to visit my family in Australia and speak to thousands of my fans and readers. Maybe I ought to engage in illegal business activities, so that I can also enjoy support from Australian politicians.
Oh, I forgot: some restrictions applyActually it’s also interesting how Pratt’s Jewishness has not been mentioned in most of the country’s newspaper stories, (while “Jewish businessman” was a mandatory prefix to his name whenever his philanthropy was promoted in Big Media). This is not to say that Pratt’s ethnicity has gone completely un-noticed, even amongst gentile executives in the Australian business community ( see the transcript at left ).
Pair’s anti-Semitic remarks THE transcript of a conversation between two former Amcor executives, part of which is expected to emerge in ACCC evidence against Visy, reveals anti-Semitic comments by the pair as they discuss how to “re-establish the vow” with their Visy counterparts. The conversation between Amcor’s former managing director of Australasia operations, Peter Brown , and senior executive Jim Hodgson , was apparently recorded in September 2002.
Mr Hodgson asked Mr Brown: “Have you nailed that yet?” Brown: “Ah, you know what the Jews are like. No wonder they own half the world.” Hodgson: “And you wonder why, ah, Hitler wanted to stitch them up, too.” Brown: “I mean you’d reckon someone would go to the Palestinians and say, ‘listen, you just can’t beat this bunch. You’re not fighting the Israelis, you’re fighting the bloody Americans.’ ” Hodgson: “Well, that whole thing is about oil, isn’t it. And the New York Jewish lobby.”
Brown: “Yeah, yeah. All right?” Hodgson: “Look, you’re meeting Harry next Wednesday.” Brown: “Next Friday, yeah. Next week …” Hodgson: “27th of September. Peter Brown and Harry Debney . Meeting.” A few minutes later, Mr Hodgson told Mr Brown that he wanted “a macro-understanding” with Mr Debney, one “that he is happy with”.
When Mr Brown suggested to his colleague that Mr Debney might need to discuss it directly with Mr Hodgson, Mr Hodgson replied: “And now you did say that bloody Pratt had squared off with Jones , at the top.” Brown: “Oh shit, don’t talk about that. You haven’t told anybody …” In his statement yesterday, Mr Pratt said he “accepted responsibility for comments made by me to the then-Amcor CEO, Russell Jones , when he invited me to lunch.”
The pair held a lunch meeting in May 2001, when they agreed not to contest certain box supply contracts held by each other’s companies.
