THE FOLLOWING nasty specimen vilifying David Irving was posted on the Nizkor Website by Webmaster Ken McVay on April 7, 1997:- IT REPRODUCES extracts from the article on Auschwitz written by Eric Conan and published in France’s leading news magazine L’Express
on January 26, 1995. In this article, for the first time, the Auschwitz authorities admit that the gas chambers shown to tourists are post-war fakes. The admission has caused Holocaust historians immense embarrassment. McVay writes: “I have reproduced below as much of it as I have. I should add that I speak French and know the nuances of French speakers. As you will see from the quote below, the writer does enumerate the things that are wrong.
I did not say that the French language is as imprecise as the English language; in fact, any language is only as imprecise as the person speaking it. English has become a “lazy” language because of the lack of focus on learning it properly in schools, something that is not yet the case with European languages. That being said, I would point out that it is not only a francophone characteristic to enumerate items in the context above.
English speakers or German speakers (which I also speak) would do the same. The fact remains that Irving’s translation, as I am sure you will confirm once you have read this note, is erroneous and misleading.[1]
