Rudolf Vrba

Rudolf Vrba and a certain Alfred Wetzler claimed to have escaped from Auschwitz in April 1944. It was their horrific eye-witness account, edited by Slovak Jewish community leaders, which was released in November 1944 by the War Refugee Board in Washington (in fact by Henry Morgenthau acting behind the back of, and against the wishes of, the two other Board members Henry Stimson and Cordell Hull).
