Dear Mr. Irving, -- Unfortunately,
due to strong opposition by the History Department here, as well as
from various ethnic organizations, I have to regretfully withdraw our
offer for your visit. While I think that you could be an interesting
educational experiece, a few opinions by some students isn't much
against a whole department. Once again, my apologies. --

Mr Irving had accepted an invitation from students at the
prestigious Bucknell University in Pennsylvania to come and speak
there some time after late March 2000 and the completion of his
lawsuit against Deborah Lipstadt. No final topic had been
arranged.
