Holocaust as
kitsch
GABRIEL SCHOENFELD [Lawyers
for The New York Times have
asked us to remove the article
(original

which was originally posted here,
deeply critical of the
commercialisation of the Holocaust by
bodies like the Los Angeles-based Simon
Wiesenthal Center and Museum of
Tolerance (which "promotes itself like
a theme park"), and of what
Schoenfeld called the "rising
culture of victimhood". Author
Schoenfeld concluded: "It is in the
interest neither of Jews nor the
broader public to turn the Holocaust
into grist for the mill of academic
trendiness or into a carnival."]
