"Hitler's Typewriter"

Website: We have cleaned up and corrected the letter below

I HAVE been studying your kind of late. You are clearly the standout of the group. [Mark] Weber is boring, [Robert] Faurisson is nasty, and [Ernst] Zundel is quite mad.

You, however, are charming, witty, erudite and quite brilliant. I have seen your interviews on YouTube, and I have read as much as I could stand of the Lipstadt trial.

So now that my introductory compliments are stated, let me get to the heart of the matter. You have stated repeatedly that Jewish people should look in the mirror and say "Why Me?" Has it ever occurred to you to perform the same exercise?

Why do you think so many people despise you and your ilk? Do you really think it is a conspiracy of Zionists?

No, it is because of your words and actions. You could have gone down in history as a great historian, perhaps even have been knighted. But you chose hatred and bigotry instead. And your obsessions have been your undoing. Your painful examination of the forces at work during World War II is so obviously skewed. You ignore the mass of evidence and choose a few experiments and documents to justify your worldview. You disregard the testimony of thousands of eyewitnesses because you write them off as tainted( i.e Jewish or coerced).

Adolf Hitler was, unfortunately, the logical outcome of the Peace of Versailles, German militarism and German antisemitism. My own view is that perhaps if the United States had not entered WWI, there might not have been a Hitler or WWII. But events did turn out that way, and Hitler paved the way for Auschwitz. Hitler, as surely as anybody, is responsible for the deaths of millions, including those in the German army and populace.

I am of German and French stock (I keep invading myself and then surrendering). I am an Episcopalian. I have dreams about what it must have been like to live through those times. Do you? Are yours nostalgic reveries about the good old days? Mine are nightmares of a lurking terror.

Are you familiar with Gustav Mahler? A genius of the first order who was so persecuted by antisemites in late nineteenth-century Austria that he converted to Christianity. Had he been born forty years later, he might have had a one way ticket to the camps. Do you realize what those monsters put the world through? My diplomatic history professor said that so many showed up for [Reinhard] Heydrich's funeral because they wanted to be sure he was dead!

One of my fantasies is that Hitler and Heydrich and the like must spend the rest of eternity watching one by one the lives and awful deaths of the people they persecuted and murdered.

And yet here your are, still hawking your books on the internet and crying about how your are besieged by enemies.

So I say again, look in the mirror. The Jewish race have [sic] been scapegoats since the death of Christ. They were kept out of many professions and so forced into others, where some made money and became the object of jealousy. Hitler exploited the very worst in human nature and made a blood sacrifice of a race of people.

When I was little, one day a neighbor boy dressed up as a Nazi and paraded through our neighborhood. In some ways he was innocent, and I hope he grew up and learned. Now you can look at websites and see neo-Nazis, grown men, bloated white trailer-trash. You are a grown man, and not innocent, and you are culpable in the desecration of souls. So that will be your legacy.

7:44 a.m Thank you for those kind words of support. I would like to say that I did not get beyond the first two paragraphs. You appear to have a lot of time on your hands, and I alas do not. So ... Goodbyeeee.
