Andrew O'Leary writes about "bombers", Wednesday, June 5, 2002
A bomber by any other nameTHE US media labeling those who die in Palestinian bombing raids as Homicide Bombers seems like an adept tactic in the media War on Terror.
This stroke of genius is expected to diminish the bomber's suicide and to focus more intently on the homicide. The term "bomber" is to my mind a clear description of terror -- whether it is preceded by Stealth , B-52 , or even "mailbox".
Are not all those who employ explosives to kill homicide bombers? Those who use their own bodies to deliver the deadly cargo are indeed committing suicide.
Is a clear perspective on the English language the next victim in this war on terror?
