"The Müller document"

click

A key defence document in the three-month 2000 Lipstadt libel trial was a telegram (right) allegedly sent by Gestapo chief Heinrich Müller (RSHA Amt IV) to the Einsatzgruppen on August 1, 1941; but when challenged, the defence lawyers were not able to identify its real provenance, to enable Mr Irving to see the surrounding documents. Nobody seemed to know where the original was. Everybody was copying everybody else's copy. There was sound reason for Mr Irving's challenge.
