The Institute of Jewish Studies at Emory University Newsletter No. 10/2000 October 2000 PROFESSOR LIPSTADT'S TRIAL The aftermath of Professor Lipstadt's smashing victory
has been stunning. She received an honorary degree from
Yeshiva University in NY, and traveled to Israel where she
was received as a heroine, meeting with Prime Minister Barak
and other government officials and receiving an invitation
to teach in 2001-2002 at the Hebrew University, an alma
mater of hers. Later in the summer, Professor Lipstadt
traveled to England to the Remembering for the Future 2000
conference on the holocaust where she gave one of the
plenaries. And, at Emory, she was honored by the Program in
Law and Religion, together with the Institute of Jewish
Studies, at a joint lecture given with Rabbi N. Lamm,
President of Yeshiva University. Almost 1000 people
attended, quite overwhelming the Emory administration. She
is now working on a book version of her trial.
