IN SUPPORT of his application to the High Court, British attorney Anthony Julius, representing Deborah Lipstadt in the libel action brought against her by David Irving, introduced an affidavit attacking Mr Irvings character, sworn for him by one Jonathan Gary Mozzochi, of Portland, Oregon -- a sick-bunny of the American far left. We invited pertinent comments from fpp-Website visitors by e-mail to Mr Irving and these turned up some little-known facts about Mr Julius gang-member pal. | ||
Kitsap County, Washington State December 28, 1998 Religious Freedom Alert! Dear Pastor: This week we highlight the Coalition for Human Dignity(CHD). Under the leadership of Jonathan Mozzocchi, the CHD conducted training seminars on the dangers of Promise Keepers, and how to picket their events. Mr. Mozzocchi presents some of the most vitriolic rhetoric yet against Christian Evangelicals. He's especially disturbed about my participation on the Kitsap County Council for Human Rights, calling for me to be "annihilated" in one Seattle news article. Such Rhetoric promotes neither respect nor civility. Mr. Mozzocchi is also a Northwest Coalition Against Malicious Harassment (NWC) board member gaining increasing influence over the organization. The NWC is supported by our tax dollars. Please consider signing the reverse side of this card and fax return it to (360) 598-2715, or notifying the Commissioners directly. [...] Kitsap County, Washington State 11/16/98 Religious Freedom Alert! Welcome to the Religious Freedom Alert. This week's focus is the Northwest Coalition Against Malicious Harassment (NWC). NWC uses a broad brush approach that lumps religious groups and conservative political organizations into the same category as racists, terrorists, and murderers. Their annual conference last year was entitled "Facing the Fear Together", and was held in Colorado Springs. Sponsors chose this location to take a stand against the religious right. The site was referred to as "Ground Zero" for its proximity to national Christian Ministries such as Dr. James Dobson, Promise Keepers, and other national ministries. Our tax dollars support the NWC through membership dues. Tax dollars were also spent to send Kitsap County Human Rights Council members to attend this event. [...] Kitsap County November 30, 1998 Religious Freedom Alert! This week we highlight the Institute for First Amendment Studies(IFAS). Spokesperson Skip Porteous advocates activists visit Conservative/Evangelical churches to uncover "radical religious right activity." He encourages followers to take notes of who attends meetings, collect any literature, including membership lists and forward the information to IFAS for their files and future use. Skip Porteous was recently a featured speaker at an annual conference sponsored by the Northwest Coalition Against Malicious Harassment (NWC). This organization is supported by Kitsap County tax payer dollars. The County also spent your tax dollars attending this event. [...] Kitsap County December 14, 1998 Religious Freedom Alert! This week we highlight a Northwest Coalition Against Malicious Harassment (NWC) speaker Linda Kintz. At the NWC Annual Conference this past October, Ms. Kintz gave a seminar entitled Between Jesus and the Market: Emotions that matter in Right-Wing America. NWC claims to fight racist and violent hate groups. One would think from the title, that this presentation would focus on the hateful activity of some violent/errant Christian cult. Think again. In a book by the same title, author Kintz analyzes three "far right" groups that are supposedly a threat to US democracy. What are these groups? Women's Aglow, and old stand-by targets, Promise Keepers and Concerned Women of America. Our county tax dollars support the NWC through membership dues. Tax dollars were also spent to send a Kitsap County Human Rights Council member to attend this conference. Please consider signing the reverse side of this card [... etc] Kitsap County Religious Freedom Alert! December 14, 1998 Dear Pastor, This week we spotlight local editorial writer Val Torrens, who writes for the Kitsap Newspaper Group's Central Kitsap Reporter. My response to her publisher is enclosed for your review. In a March 12, 1998 column entitled Kitsap becomes CC battleground, Ms Torrens takes issue with my attempts to share with you various tax-supported activities of the Kitsap County Council for Human Rights. She further criticizes the local ministry Kitsap Outreach as bigoted because of its evangelical nature. Torrens, a former Human Rights council person herself, has been one of the most vociferous supporters of Bill Wassmuth's Northwest Coalition Against Malicious Harassment (NWC), which shares her long-standing opposition to the traditional evangelical church. Our county tax dollars support the NWC through membership dues. Please consider signing the reverse side of this card and fax return it to (360) 598-2715, or notify the Commissioners directly. [...] Kitsap County , Washington State May 7, 1999 Religious Freedom Alert! A Report to Pastors from Jim Craswell, 26436 Big Valley Road NE, Poulsbo, WA 98370 (360) 779-4494 The focus of this Religious Freedom Alert is Coalition for Human Dignity (CHD). CHD recently issued a statement referring to these Religious Freedom Alerts" as a "campaign of misinformation". As an example, CHD criticizes my defense of Focus On The Family leader Dr. James Dobson. Mr. Dobson's "high crime", according to CHD, is that he lamented the Supreme Court ruling prohibiting prayer in public schools. Thus according to CHD, Focus On The Family... "threatens the religious liberty of all Americans." "Anti-Democratic" echoes Leah Slaney, in a local letter to the editor also criticizing my defense of Evangelical Christians. Slaney just completed a term on the board of the Northwest Coalition Against Malicious Harassment (NWC), the companion organization to CHD. CHD leader Terre Rybovich serves on the NWC Board, as did Jonathon Mozzochi who preceded her as head of CHD. I've written about Mr. Mozzochi in the past, and his now infamous article which appeared in the Seattle Gay News (April 98) suggesting Evangelical Christians serving on the Kitsap County Council for Human Rights (Mick Sheldon and I) be "annihilated". As a result of my shining a light on their activities, both NWC and CHD are now running for cover. NWC runs from Mozzochi saying, "he has never been a member of the Board", going on to explain that he was a non voting liaison on the NWC Board representing CHD (a distinction significant to only NWC). Not us...not us....cries CHD, blaming the Seattle Gay News for altering the article, inserting the "annihilate" statement. CHD claims an apology from Seattle Gay News is forthcoming. Seattle Gay News Editor and owner George Bakan. However, responded to my inquiry with "what's the F------ big deal," and punctuated to me in similar terms that no such apology was forthcoming. I find it interesting that neither CHD nor NWC had initially objected to the terminology and took no steps to correct the language when the article was first published. They found no problem with the use of "annihilate" when they were reprimanded by the Kitsap County Commissioners in a letter dated 10/20/98. It was only after I shared this information with you, the Pastoral Leadership of Kitsap County (and the press), that prompted the NWC to suddenly find their social conscience.
Kitsap County, Washington State May 7, 1999 Religious Freedom Alert! A Report to Pastors from Jim Craswell, 26436 Big Valley Road NE, Poulsbo, WA 98370 (360) 779-4494 I find even more revealing their weak attempts to run from such obvious hate speech, rather than finding the moral courage to rebuke those who use such language. For a group that once stood against malicious harassment, and still claims to stand against bigotry, I find their lack of introspection appalling. NWC leader Bill Wassmuth could go a long way towards restoring credibility for his organization if he would find his voice and publicly condemn the Seattle Gay News for running the article. While he's at it, he could voice his disapproval of his Oregon Conference coordinator, and speaker, Linda Kintz's venomous comparisons of Promise Keepers Stadium Events with Nazi's. Along the same line, he could publicly disassociate the NWC from the rhetoric of his conference speaker Skip Porteous, who advocates the infiltration of Evangelical churches to compile a national data base of individual members. Finally, Mr Wassmuth could join me in supporting my "respect amendment", which states that Kitsap County tax dollars would not be used to support any group that engages in or condones the denigration of religious groups (or other people groups covered by the KC Council for Human Rights). I continue to ask for your support in calling for an end of tax payer funding for the Northwest Coalition Against Malicious Harassment. Sincerely, Jim Craswell PS: Over 20% of the Pastors in Kitsap County have joined me in my call for an end to tax payer support of the NWC. As you'll recognize, these pastors come from a broad spectrum of Churches including Baptists, Lutherans, Methodists, Episcopalians, Assembly of God, and a number of Independent Churches. Rabbi Daniel Lapin of King County has also asked to join our call. MORE DATA ON ANTHONY JULIUS'S WITNESS, MR MOZZOCHI, PLEASE. . .! |
