HE
DAWNCHILD by Beryl Irving was one of the great children's
fantasies of the 1920s. Educated
at the Slade School of Art in London, she had a style of her
own, and was a frequent illustrator for The Radio
Times and other journals of the era. Several
readers have contacted
her son David Irving, thanks to the Internet, and reminisced
wistfully about this book, which they had once read in their
childhood. Mr Irving obtained a copy a few months
ago; it was printed in 1920 by Butler & Tanner, in
Somerset -- the same printers who manufactured his "Hitler's
War" (Millennium Edition, 2002).
