CAN we wish for any better definition of Real History than its very antithesis? Flemish TV airs today Tuesday April 24 the BBC documentary on ASSHOL-member Benjamin Wilkomirski, "Child of the death camp", with this memorable quote from Israel Gutman, Yad Vashem director and sworn enemy of historian David Irving:

"According to Israel Gutman, director of Yad Vashem and Holocaust lecturer at the Hebrew University, himself an Auschwitz survivor, it is of little importance whether the book is a fabrication or not. »Wilkomirksi is no swindler. He is someone who has experienced very intensely this story, right from the bottom of his soul. Whether he spent the war in a Swiss chalet or a concentration camp is not relevant. Wilkomirki is a Holocaust survivor because his pain is authentic.«"

Volgens Israel Gutman, directeur van Yad Vashem en Holocaust-docent an Hebrew University, die zelf Auschwitz heeft overleefd, heeft het weinig belang of het boek een vervalsing is of niet. » Wilkomirski is geen oplichter. Hij is iemand die het verhaal heel intens, in het diepst van zijn ziel heeft beleefd. En dus doet het er niet toe of hij de oorlog in een concentratiekamp of in een Zwitserse chalet heeft doorgebracht. Wilkomirski is een Holocaust-overlevende omdat zijn pijn authentiek is.«
