Kenneth Stern (right) is a leading agitator of the AJC, and a frequent contributor to newspapers like The New York Times on right-wing extremism. As ACTION REPORT No. 9j reported, he helped propagate the Oklahoma City bombing smear.

Mr Irving would welcome informed opinions on Ms Guttmann and her report from his many friends in Florida.

RE:   David Irving's lecture on July 25th

DATE: July 30th, 1998

On the evening of July 25th, 1998, I attended a lecture by David Irving (see attached flier [not posted]). There were approximately 70 people in attendance, 90% male, varying in age. The event was clearly linked with the National Alliance, although to what extent I do not know. I believe there was a connection for the following reasons:

1) The phone number to call for information about the event (813-852-9234) is the local number for the National Alliance. On May 30th the recording states that it is the "temporary number for the local Tampa unit."

2) When I entered the room where the event was being held members of the National Alliance greeted me and collected admission fees. Members of the National Alliance were clearly identified by neon stickers with the National Alliance logo on them

3) A National Affiance member ran a metal detector across my body and asked if I had any weapons on me before I was allowed to enter the room.

4) Inside the room there was a table set up with David Irving's books and his latest newsletter and a couple of different fliers on it. Across from that table was another table set up for the National Alliance that had books and fliers and tapes as well.

5) David Irving was introduced by a member of the National Alliance who also made a plug for the National Alliance, reminding everyone to feel free to peruse their literature set up at their table.

6) The podium that David Irving stood behind while he spoke had a National Alliance flag on it.

7) There were numerous members of the National Alliance who seemed to be serving as security for the event. They were dressed in suits and stood the entire time, their eyes constantly surveying the audience in at least four different locations. Two were in the back corners behind Irving, and two at the half way mark of the room, on either sue. There were also several members standing around the doors, though in what capacity I am unsure.
