clickAFTER reading your dossier on the August 1, 1941 Müller document, can you please clarify two points.

1) Do the copies of the Abschrift in the Moscow and Ludwigsburg archives shed any light on the matter of the document's provenance and location?

2) Did the defense's mistaken file reference originate with them or from Gerald Fleming's book?

Irving David Irving answers these two questions:

 1) Do the copies of the Abschrift in the Moscow and Ludwigsburg archives shed any light on the matter of the document's provenance and location? -- No. Each time the Lipstadt defense attorneys just gave me a different copy of the same item. I was having to be careful not to call it a fake, but they were not making it easy to prove it authentic either. I was far more interested in what other documents might have been in the same file, which would either have confirmed, or refuted, their interpretation of it. No doubt for that very reason they kept stalling until the trial was over, Gray J let them get away wit it.

2) Did the defense's mistaken file reference originate with them or from Gerald Fleming's book? -- That I don't know. The trial moved at such a pace, and they tried to bury me with so many documents, that I had no time to check. That was not in itself a question of interest in the trial -- but the real source file number was!
