EVANS would be hard put to find one instance during my cross-examination in which I "insulted" him or others, while his own responses were often wounding and offensive, and he was was reprimanded even by Mr Justice Gray on this score. Interviewed later in The Guardian, Gray paid grudging compliment to my cross examination of all the witnesses: "He conducted his case in a very impressive way," he said. And Richard Rampton QC stated of my manner in court, in a BBC Radio Interview: "Certainly he was very courteous to me, never offensive and always acknowledged me and so on and so forth."
