Rudolf VrbaPolitical Agenda

Wednesday, July 19, 2000

From: Rudolf Vrba [Walter Rosenberg]

UNDER this title [POLITICAL AGENDA] a certain Mr.Honey published in H-Holocaust Digest of 12-14th July (#2000-186) the fifth (!) part of his analysis of my personal memories and recollections from Auschwitz ( not "History of Auschwitz "as Mr. Honey claims). This last installment of the work published in H- Holocaust Digest by Mr. Honey is titled as [Political Agenda]. In his articles Mr.Honey refers only to an edition of my book which is by now for years out of print. Thus your readers have no easy possibility to form their own opinion by comparing the review of Mr. Honey directly with the contents of an available copy of my book .

Rudolf VrbaTo remedy this situation I wish to inform you and your readers that a new edition of my book is now available accompanied by about 100-pages of additional documentation, which might supplement Mr.Honey's above mentioned thesis. A few copies of this NEW edition of my book ("I cannot forgive") are still available from Regent College Publishing House, and can be ordered by phone toll- free from 1-800-663-8664; by fax from (604)-224-3097 or by e-mail from [email protected]

Rudolf VrbaFor those who prefer to read in other than English language, the book is now available also in Czech (Sefer, Prague 1998), Hebrew (Haifa University Press, 1998) or German (Piper, Munich 1999).

Also, three very contemporary new studies (listed below sub 1-3) published just before the end of this century might be a useful suplementary source of additional and perhaps more global information relevant to the portentuous events which took place during the first half of the year 1944 in Birkenau and were scrutinized by Mr. Honey in H- Holocaust 2000-186 and before.

  3. Rudolf Vrba: The Preparations For The Holocaust In Hungary: An Eyewitness Account. In "The Nazis' Last Victims. The Holocaust in Hungary", pp. 55-102. Edited by Randolph L.Braham with Scott Miller. Wayne State University Press, Detroit, 1998. This paper was also published in: "The Holocaust in Hungary. Fifty years later," pp.227-285. Edited by Randolph L. Braham and Attila Pok, Columbia University Press, New York.1997

Rudolf VrbaI hope these materials will be a useful complement to Mr. Honey's extensive studies of the relevant period in Birkenau published in Holocaust List recently.

    Yours truly
