Arthur Blank gives $5 million to Emory's Institute for Jewish Studies

THE Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation has donated $5 million to Emory University's Institute for Jewish Studies, giving the fast-growing center the springboard it needs to leap to the forefront of Jewish scholarship in the United States.

The institute hopes to establish a $10 million endowment, and the Blank gift was made with the understanding that Emory would raise an additional $5 million.

The gift also gives naming rights for the institute to Arthur Blank, co-founder and retired co-chairman of The Home Depot Inc. (NYSE: HD). Blank is an Emory trustee and distinguished executive in residence at Goizueta Business School.

Deborah Lipstadt: Mr Irving's request for information

  • WE KNOW the reasons why Deborah Lipstadt was refused tenure at the southern California university where she used to teach, and transferred to her present lowly position at Emory, the "Coca-Cola" university of Atlanta. For court use in future, we should like to obtain chapter and verse. The L.A. University refuses to divulge data on personnel matters. Who can assist? This is believed to be one of the reasons why Lipstadt declined to testify on oath (like Taking the Fifth) in London. [Confidential information to ]
